Originally, the COM.IT.ES was established for the defense and the improvement of the quality of life of our compatriots, working and living outside of Italy. And in order to achieve these two main goals, the COM.IT.ES was also dedicated to sensitize the Italian Diplomatic and Consular Authority and, of course, to cooperate with them.

Fortunately, after a number of years, the Italian emigration from our country of origin to other nations is very different than it was forty years ago. Nowadays Italian emigrants are not poor people in despair searching for a job under any conditions, but are mainly engineers and architects, medical doctors, and scholars who are capable of making precious contributions to the societies of the countries where they have decided to live.

The objectives of the COM.IT.ES - as stated by law - is to promote and support everything representing our country of origin and for this goal to cooperate closely with Italian Diplomatic and Consular Authorities. Particularly the COM.IT.ES is asked to protect and to promote the Italian language and culture. The COM.IT.ES must support the initiatives promoting Italian products, in cooperation with all the institutions having the same purpose. Among the other activities the COM.IT.ES is expected by the Italian Government to give suggestions for the assignment of Government contributions to the schools of Italian language.

The COM.IT.ES will do its best to assist Italian immigrants and must not and can not - by law - replace existing organizations. Instead the COM.IT.ES will try to give them any possible help and close cooperation.
